About this eSIM

A data-only eSIM for Ecuador on the Movistar and Claro 4G networks, with plans from 3 GB to 50 GB for 30 days. Now and then, an eSIM here comes with more data than you paid for, on us.

An eSIM for Ecuador lets you sort out mobile data entirely online, before you travel. Choose a plan and pay, and the QR code appears on the page or in your email. Scan it, and your phone joins the 4G networks in Ecuador as soon as you land. There’s no airport kiosk to queue at and no phone shop where you have to explain what you need. Your 30 days start when it first connects to a network, not when you buy it.

Questions

How quickly do I get my eSIM?

Within seconds of your payment arriving. The QR code and install details appear on your order page, and in your email if you gave one.

Do I need a passport or ID?

No. There’s no registration and no document check: pay, then install.

Does it work on iPhone and Android?

Yes, on any iPhone or Android phone that takes an eSIM and isn’t locked to a carrier. To check, dial *#06#: if an EID appears, your phone takes eSIMs.

When do the 30 days start?

When the eSIM first connects to a network in Ecuador, not when you buy or install it, so you can install it at home before you go.

Do I keep my own phone number?

Yes. Your own SIM stays on for calls and texts, and WhatsApp keeps your number, while the eSIM handles data. If you’d like a second number, UK numbers from esimjia are coming soon.

What if I run out of data?

Top up from your eSIM’s page, at the same price as a plan of that size. The data is added to the same eSIM, so there’s nothing to reinstall. A top-up also resets the clock to 30 days.

Is the speed limited?

No. You get the whole allowance at the network’s normal speed, with no daily cap and no slowdown along the way. When it’s used up, top up to carry on.

Can I use it as a hotspot?

Yes. Share the connection with your laptop or a travel companion. What they use comes out of the same data.

Can I buy for a group or a team?

Yes. Choose how many eSIMs before you pay: each gets its own install link and QR code to hand out. For a team, an account keeps everyone’s eSIMs and top-ups in one place, paid from one balance.
