Check on the phone itself, not in a list of models.
- Open the phone app and dial
*#06#. - If a number labelled EID appears, your phone supports eSIM.
Nothing on the dial pad? Look in Settings › General › About on iPhone, or Settings › About phone on Android. An EID there means the same.
It must be unlocked
A phone locked to one provider can refuse other eSIMs, even with an EID. On iPhone, Settings › General › About › Carrier Lock says No SIM restrictions when it’s unlocked. Got the phone on a contract? Ask your provider.
Some models are sold without eSIM
- Many iPhones sold in mainland China, Hong Kong and Macao have two physical SIM slots and no eSIM.
- Some Samsung and Xiaomi models sold in certain regions have no eSIM either.
Most iPhones from the XS and XR on, Google Pixel 3 and later, and Samsung Galaxy S20 and later support eSIM. The EID check is what counts.
